MSBA EXPO Announcement--The Striper Cup

The MSBA Expo Committee is proud to add the following event to the growing list of featured attractions at the 2006 MSBA Annual Sport Fishing Exposition.

*The Striper Cup Concept:*

On The Water is reviving the spirit of the largest fishing tournament on the east coast, The RJ Schaefer Tournament. From it’s inception in 1947 until the mid 1970’s tens of thousands of anglers participated. Trophies were awarded but for most of the angler’s it was all about the prestige. There were no huge cash prizes, boats or trucks given away. Fishing for your club, the 50 pounder pin, along with the sportsmanship and camaraderie of the tournament was first and foremost in these tournament angler’s minds. The symbols of that prestige were the pins that were proudly worn on the hats and jackets, and plaques that hung in dens and offices of expert anglers who landed bragging size fish.

On The Water believes that sportsmanship, prestige and camaraderie are alive here in New England and in the spirit of that bygone era we
announce “The Striper Cup”. A new tournament based on the ideals of the Schaefer Tournament but with today’s anglers in mind. From May through September Anglers up and down the coast will have the opportunity to fish for the pride of their club or prestige of having their own 50 pounder pin on their hat.

The formal announcement of this event along will details and initial registration will be held on Saturday March 25th during the 2006 MSBA Annual Sport Fishing Exposition being held at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough MA.

I've noticed for about 2 weeks now that the sign at Gillette stadium is no longer flashing "super bowl champs"
But instead is posting some upcoming shows they are having there

If and when the post the MSBA show on that sign, I may stop and snap a few pics with my digital camera and post them here!

Now there's a tournament I can live with. FIshing for the honor of it. Bravo! Free beer won't hurt either.

Nice!

Yourning for the Tourney

Getting hammered on Harpoon

Catching a fifity with a harpoon

Hammering them while hammered

where was I?

Sounds like a good thing! Though..... how would it be possible to catch and release a fifty but still have it count for the tourney? Not feasible ey?

Good health and family

Ahh yes, Mr. Copland's work will be recognized by fans of classic John Ford westerns. On a side note, Aaron Copland was gay - the original Brokeback composer.

Does this mean that OTW won't be a sponsor of the pro tour?

It would be illegal to advertise free beer. All I will say is that there is a concessions stand that sells beer and there is always the proba...possibility of a sample promotion....wink wink
