I was fishing a MacFadden plug off the front of a jetty bout 7 yrs ago.Was my first yr.in my club.one of my club memebers comes out on me with a live bunker tells me this is his jetty well i said I'm workin one right here.proceeds to flip his bunkie out.The bait High tails it out of there.i toss my plug back in an finally the fish eats it.i landed the bass of 18 or so lbs.an leave. i usta tell billy he makes plugs that out fish live bunker.One of a small hand full thet started this custom craze round here.He an my friend Tony from Lex pretty much got me threw alot of the learnig curve in plug building.He's been doin this a long time in the late 70's he got a big metal lathe an made needlefish they usta call em chicken sticks.They where crude screw eye designs with 2 splitshots for weight.yet stiil effective.One of my friends got one 48 an change on one.one Nov night.One of his friends Motts a real comedian kinda guy.came up with the idea to flame em.Brown streaks an clear finish.Simplicity.I have some Billy Mac's 40's in the package one of my favorite colletable's.it has his likeness with long hair fighting a fish an a duck laughing.it's pretty cool.Billy is a good friend so it has more meaning. He's retired now so he makes a few more plugs when the bass are around he fishes every morning.An then some.He's alittle funny spent some time in Montauk an Nantucket with him.Plenty of laughs.He's got a few 50's usta write some for the fisherman mag..many say he was one The best all around fisherman they know.he had a great eelin squid mold made from a add in Field an Stream.i was lent it an poured a small pail full its my favorite squid.No computer for Billy he is a man of simple needs just a few poles an some plugs an he's happy.
