SRI Tandem Rigged Sluggo - Fun Facts & Hook Upgrade

Steve McKenna is the man who puts together the tandem-rigged Sluggos for Surfcasting Rhode Island? This means they are bestowed with special mojo - it leaches off Steve's bassaholic hands into the bait.

The rig I sell has been field tested and proven through several seasons. I noticed on another site that they said that theirs were done the "right way" I guess they must think that Steve's method was "wrong" I guess the numerous large and the forty he twanged on the video were lucky flukes. Check out the video if you think this method is "wrong," you won't want to be right.

In response to concerns people had about the hooks, I upgraded them. Future rigs will be tied with the Gamu Live Bait - a heavier hook than the Gamu Octopus.

Its great that new vendors are arising, I fully expected they would. I plan on checking them out and maybe carrying some. Who knows? Maybe they will be better? Its hard to tell in March. There are a lot of variables with respect to durability, how the bait performs in different water conditions, etc, etc,. The Sluggos work and they are proven, top-selling, fish catchers.

I can't do shows - my stock gets too screwed up and by the time I get it back together, its time for another show. I'm pretty much a one-man operation.

Lunker City really needs to wake up and offer 7 and 9 inch sluggos by the dozen w/o hooks in plastic bags and simple cardboard labels to interested dealers or through their website and pass the packaging savings on to the consumer or other manufacturers will cut into their business. I can't imagine that any of the small operations could compete with them if they did that. I'm sticking with sluggos myself until something comes along that is both proven and significantly cheaper.

The reason I use the Mustad 34007 hooks is they don't rust in the sluggo if I get to use it over and over, I can cut the hooks out of the beat sluggo and reuse them. plus I have a hard time not setting the hooks. no mater what I always set and then end up with gut hooks with circles. I never had a problem with the gami hooks I just like the Mustads better.
