slug go imitations

slug go imitations

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the unsure future of live eels and all the new rubber companies coming out what do you guys think about the new companies.
From SB we have Surf-Asylum and Nebe ., all have their place some have special joints ,hook pockets ,Nylon , Dacron or Mylar running thru. There is just so many.

Here is another a guy came in the shop today. Reelecstacy , Splashinplug & the maker of the lure and Myself tested it out back. It swam great Here is his special nitch. Lure has a special hook pocket that his rig fits inside of. It is so simple it’s too funny. The tandem rig is designed to fit exactly into a specially measured & built in hook pocket. You cant mess up where the hook goes in and where it exits. The exit is a premarked hole that you slide the hook out thru.
The Hogy as he calls it comes in 3 colors Pearl ,Bullbe Gum & Black for now. More colors in 2 weeks. It is 10” long & it will come 3 baits to a bag with 1 rigged Cost aprox $5.25. It will also be sold in a 5 pack of replacement bodies which He did not give a price for the replacement bodies or separate rigs (2 pack) as of yet.
The rig has 2 Eagle Claw HD Black Pearl Lazer Sharp hooks. It looks like I will have a few at the show and that I might be able to offer a special show price while they last.

Cool

You wouldn't have a picture of them, would you? It's a whole week 'til the expo!

Hey thats cool. I had heard that there was someone else doing a rigged sluggo type bait because he and i are using the same hooks and are getting them from the same distributer. The rep told me all about it.
good luck with them Mike

Last season, we had good luck with the 9" Houdini eels on Stripers in the surf. We also used them on SBFT trolling bars and caught fish.

There is another company with a long standing reputation that has a "Bluefish Proof" version coming out. Have some ordered and waiting to test it.

Looks nice.
But the only reason I could think not to buy Sluggos is price$ Make a similar product for 1/2 and ill be all over it.
Until they're proven, everything else is fancy footwork, and right now you could spend hundreds trying out all the new plastic coming on market

They're not tuffcore. The company making them is not a sponsor of this site so I don't want to post the name. If the SWE decides to carry them Pete will post the info.

He does indeed. I'm not sure why it surprises me, but the guy has ALOT of knowledge, he's pretty young too.

This is WAY off topic...

But some guys are just naturals, at alot of different things. Some guys are just naturals at fishing. Not only do they suck up information like a sponge, they can then apply it. Almost instinctively. I think Shadow is one of these guys. Also, he's a real nice guy, great to fish with. If he doesn't start nailing big fish consistantly a few years down the road I will be surprised.

Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement -- Keith Benning

I saw these first hand, tossed them out behind Mike's- some serious sweet action on them. Plus rigged in maybe 3 secs..great profile, for me they are a little light, but nuttin a few sluggo nails could solve...
Mike, I need a few Hogy's, lol

Used hard and put away dirty....
