Question about buckshot

What sizes are you guys using to weight plugs? 0, 00? I've been using an old stash of split shot that almost gone and it's time to stock up.

If ya go to a gun shop, they will have a chart showing the weight of each guage buck shot. ex. 12ga will be heavier than 20ga and different manufactures wil even have different weights in their shells, Hope it helps.

Check out the Muzzleloader Shot....all Different Sizes (Caliber). I've started using them and they work great

To the best of my recollection, the shot size stays the same. The number of pellets in the different size rounds (12, 20 ga) changes.

Barrel gauges are the number of balls that can be made that fit that barrel drom a pound of lead. Except .410. A 12 guage means that 12 balls can be made to fit that barrel. A 20 gauge 20 balls. I use 000 buckshot for lure weights. Shot size stays the same 00 in a 12 guage is the same size in a 16 gauge. Only more pellets of 00 in a 12 gauge shell.

John, i've found for my real small needles i use a Remington 20 ga 3 buck 6mm, which will fit snug in a 15/64 or loose in a 1/4. For the larger needles i use a Remington 12 ga 1buck 7mm which fits a 19/64 hole or loose in a 5/16. If i remember right, i think the Federals were a little larger in those same gauges.

#4 = .240
0 = .320
00 = .330
000 = .350

I love heavy metal.
I just made a little belly weight mold out of 2 peices of maple.Nails for pins in the side lines em up I use one of those big spring clamps to hold it together while i pour.has about 7 holes just smaller than 5/16.19/64 ? not sure its a wierd size but its just smaller so it fits in a 5/16 hole without messin wit em.

I've got the same kind of mold , works great and you can make any size , shape or weight you want , including tail weights .
