Cutting Graphite Blanks
I have a batson 1208 that I want to cut a few inches from the butt of. I'm assuming that this is a task that I can do myself but I've never done it before. Can anyone give me a quick how to? Thanks.

ive,d done it once, so im no expert. mark where youre cutting w/ marker or pencil. tape over the mark. re mark on tape. i used a fine hacksaw blade and worked out ok. cut through the tape so no frays and dont i repeat dont snap it, cut all the way tru.

When I cut a rod I use a dremel tool with a cut off wheel at high rpm's. I tape around the rod with masking tape to make a guide so I know the cut will be straight. I then cut along the edge made by the tape by holding the dremel tool stationary and rotating the rod. When I put the tape on, I make sure that the tape is on the piece of the rod that you are going to use just in case there are any splinters.

I mark where im gunna cut with a china marker. Tape around the blank with several wraps of masking tape, and cut with a hacksaw. Make sure u score around the blank with the saw, dont just saw in place, eventually youll get through.

Same as fungus. Dremel, taped on the side of the cut that's gonna stay on the rod, and I also score the blank all the way around first. Cutting the tip is more critical than the butt.

Ive done it to a few rods. I also use keep the dremel stationary and rotate the blank. It can be a little shaky trying to move the dremel

tape it, mark it, put on a mask and chop saw it. Works awesome. Use this technique on the butt section ONLY.

I just tried the bandsaw on Monday, worked real well on the butt end

I assume you're talking a cut-off blade?
If you're just doing one, I'd do it by hand...that way it's nearly impossible to screw up.
