South side mackeral report

Had a good day today on mackeral between Gay Head and Nomans. Continuous bite from 8:30 AM to 11:30 am, at which time we went looking for sea bass without success. If you go, however, retie your rigs on #20-30 line (we used flurocarbon, easy to do, just tie three surgeon double loops 18" apart). The fish wouldn't touch commercially tied stuff on heavy mono. They liked silver tubes (Sabiki (sp?) rigs also worked). Most fish were deep. Caught lots of sea herring as well, very few dogfish, no bass, cod, or sea bass. Go have some fun, good luck.
