Noisy New Honda 150
I have a new 2004 Honda 150 that I bought as a leftover. I just finished the breakin on the motor but I am really surprised at how loud it is. When it is Idling, it is very quiet but once you get above 3500 RPM it is very close to being as loud as my old 93’ 200 Merc. Has anyone else experienced this? Every review that I read claimed that the motor was “whisper quiet”. This thing is nowhere near as quiet as I was told it would be.

i'm not an expert, but it should be quieter in cruise but they still are loud. I think that I read that at WOT that they (meaning 4 strokes) have similar decible ratings as the two strokes but the major difference is in the idle, quiet like its not running.

i have no first hand experience, so i am relucant to post, but i have read this before. I have been next to one on the ramp before, and at idle they are whisper quiet, however it is no wake until you are out into the bay, so I didn't get to hear him open it up....
But yeah, i have read this on other boards the honda isn't so quite at 3500+RPM

Well I run the Yamaha F150 and at idle it is nearly silent but at 3/4-full throttle it makes a good amount of noise. I would suspect the Honda is similar.
