I'm off to Florida tom.

I will be in Florida for 9 days fishing my brains out. Be back May 4th. 4 days in Stuart and 4 in the keys. I hope to catch one of those over-sized herrings among other species.

I will take pictures and post a report when I return. I hope the large are here when I get back.

See you guys later........

where is summer?

Good Luck Slipknot!!!!!! Hope you hook a 180lber, landing well that's another story :-). Oh and if you do any wading don't forget to do the stingray shuffle. Saw many of them myself while wading down there.

Think circle hooks...you'll land more of those jumping giants. And stick a big bull shark for me.

Good luck Slip, I hope you get a big one, you are hitting it at the beginning of prime season. Wish I were going with you, every trip I made to the keys was timed around family stuff and I was always there before the prime May Tarpon season. One of these days, I'm going to get down there when it's the right time. Happy hunting.

Sweet!

Slip, best of luck in your tarpon hunt. May you see many many fishes and no hammerheads. Well, I guess that would be really cool to see a couple as long as they don't turn your 200lb trophy tarpon into a 75lb mangled, bloody carcass.

Two years ago, my uncle was down in the keys and his guide got a call on the radio from one of his fellow guides who was about a mile away. This guide had two guys from Indiana or something who were making their first trip to the keys and the ocean period.

They had a nice tarpon on and suddenly the tarpon went right under the 17' flats boat. An 18' hammerhead came flying in... my uncle and his guide buzzed over and I guess the two guys were white as a ghost sitting on the floor in the middle of the boat. I think they went back to the dock despite being pretty early.

I'm hoping to get down there one of these years too. My wife wants to go and get a tarpon for herself, so it shouldn't be too hard a sell... no doubt she'd get the biggest one. I'm getting used to that. I'm not sure if I'm ready for fish that big yet...

Have a fantastic trip and don't forget all the other great species of fish down there.

Yes Good Luck !!!!

I fished key West with my Brother in law last spring.

Huge Tarpon, but we never did boat one. The first one i was
was near 200 and shot out of the water about 4 feet!!!
I nearly s--t myself.

We also fished at night,,, real strange experience, but lots of hook ups. I do have video of myself fighting one for about 15 mins before it broke off.

Of course Duval street on the island is also quite an experience!!!
