As many of you on this board may know, I am a member of the Yarmouth Police Department on the Cape. Several of you have solicited legal advise regarding speeding tickets, but that's a story for another time...!
Our relief association, the Yarmouth Police Relief Association, or YPRA, is hosting a Texas Hold 'Em Tournament on June 10th, 2006 at 6pm. It will be held at Skippy's Pier I in South Yarmouth, MA and all tables are supervised by Bay State Poker, so yes, it is all above board & out in the open!
As a YPRA member, I have one ticket for sale, the cost is $125.00. This includes your entry into the games and a full buffet and cash bar. Beyond that, I know nothing about Texas Hold 'Em, nothing! But I can put you in touch with those who do! If more than one S-B.Com member is interested in attending, I can get other tickets, if need be.
There is expected to be $5,000.00 in prize money available, based upon the expected 200 tickets available. We always fill the place and everyone has a great time.
The YPRA raises money through events such as this and golf tournaments, a policeman's ball, etc, so that we can provide financial support to worthy causes in our community. We routinely sponsor local sports teams, give money to local college students in the form of scholarships, etc. Basically, any worthy cause in town can make a pitch to the membership and if it seems like a good idea, we'll send money to it. We've done a lot of good over the years for a lot of people.
