Chunking

I have tried chunking before but never had any luck around chatham with it. This weekend I was thinking of giving it another try from my boat. I know heads are best to catch the fish. Is there a "Sweet spot" in a chum line that I should be fishing? Do you just open your bail and let it drift with the chunks? Is there a special way to rig them? The more info and experience you feel like sharing the better. As always, thanks!
