well...

I am a proud new owner of a '71 mako 19.

Anyone have one?? I know that the transoms are prone to rot, and the decks can go bad, but what are the major things to look for??

Big hole in water that we toss money into. So why did I just buy another one. I got nervous on Acquasports, Prolines, and Mako because most had the transom replaced. Who knows why.
I bought another bayliner, never had a problem with the last one.
Oh and did I mention, when you get older you just have to have a portapotti!!!!
I hate getting older.

I have the displeasure of telling you I have suffered every steering issue known to boaters.

Will help, but need details.

At least you know that now, I was on a boat when the cable snapped and it was horrible. Congrats on the boat, that is one of my all time favorite hulls, super-fishable, small enough to tow and launch, big enough to be comforatable outside the bay. What kind of motor?

Don't let them scare you. (smaller boats 19 and under) are relatively cheap to maintain. Initial cost and (if TLC is needed) but hey....Your on the water and nothing beats that.

Hope the motor isnt of the same vintage however

A few years ago. Still runs strong. New paint since. Fun boat that can get into some shallow water.

well... yes i know boats = $$$ and i dont have much of that laying around these days, but i am going to keep it on a trailer and use it every once in a while. Surfcasting is in my blood and will still do that most of the time.

heres some pics... the engine is a '89 evenrude 115. If i can swing it i will try to pick up a 90 honda 4 stroke- thats all i need i think...

heres some pics of the beast. AS you can see by looking at the console it needs some TLC, but I am only looking at this as a workhorse fishing boat..

Thumbs up

Congrats Nebe

love the layout on that boat....room to move and nice sides to lean against while you haul them in.

Good health and family

Eben, you can get serious with that boat, the Clam Handle on the console is there for a reason//////. I'm sure you'll have her up tight in no time ..
