Lane drop, failure to yeild
. Well after leaving the canal this morning I head home. Get into Stoughton on rt 27 and everything is fine. Well the road has a lane drop (right lane) and I am in the left lane with the double yellow lines on my drivers side. The car to my right (who is ahead of me slightly) pulls in front of me when I yeild for him. No problem so far... well there was a trailblazer behind me on right side that decides to try to pass me on the inside and is now beside me (now in the breakdownlane). Only problem is there is no where for him to go. I keep a straight course and feel his vehicle (04 or 05 Chevy trailblazer) push into the side of me. I pull over and see him get out kind of huffy. I get out and his attitude changed a little really fast cause I am now pissed. He starts mouthing off a little and I blew up at him. He starts spouting that he was trying to merge and I lost it. Told him I'll just call the cops and see who they think was in the wrong. (I am looking at the side of my truck now and don't notice any damage) His car has a black scrape on side of front fender from my front tire. Not much damage. I calm down a little and ask him if I am calling the police> He replies" I have no damage" So I don't bother making the call. Well while driving the rest of the way home I notice my radio not coming in very well. (his mirror had clipped my antenna and taken it off) I figure no big deal and go to pick up another one. Well it is the wrong one and I now need to go to the dealership and buy a whole antenna assembly. What a royal pain in the arse this is turning into. They don't make it an easy replacement. It is probably a good thing he isn't standing infront of me right now or I would probably really lose my cool. Sorry I just had to vent a little and let my blood pressure come back to normal.
Dealership just called and said parts cost 80 freaking bux. Now I am pissed again

A few years back a friend of mine had just picked up a used Rhodes 19...when he was rear-ended by an old lady in a big old car.
A dent in the trailer was all the damage, so he said don't worry about it and went home...
...to find a cracked keel
Certainly sux but it could have been a lot worse!

Dave, That's the Ram Pick up right? The antenna mast screws right off the base with a 10mm or 3/8 wrench, as long as the base is ok.

that's the problem. It broke off below the threaded stud. Had to order the parts and should get them tomorrow. The parts guy was good though, he cut me some slack on the price.

Oh, I see, you'll have to take out inner fender well and kick panel inside to get at it. Let me know if you have any trouble with it, I've done about 5 million of them...

Whatta freakin' grommet! I can't believe the arse pimples who will go so far as to have an accident. You should check your front end alignment, too. I wish that they would take those "Click it and ticket "ads and replace them with rules of the road ads. Merging, lane drops, rotarys, how to use your freakin' exit without backing traffic 2 miles, you know.... Sorry ya got wacked..again

Teach you to oversleep on me David. I got your message later in the day though. My phone was in my bag on my bike so I could not hear it ringing. I have an equipment problem and since I was alone retreated home. I had the same results as you though. A birdie told me he had a few good minutes today though. He was getting jiggy with it. Same place we usually meet up.

that sucks
i learned the hard way that damages can be easily under-estimated.
now i try not to take anything for granted.....without a thorough inspection. the most important thing is: MAC is OK
and i'm glad for that....

I think I know the area with the lane drop. It does stink when your trying to be a nice guy and not call the cops. Problem is if you do file a claim, the insurance co. won't pay without an accident report on file.

Mac I feel for ya.... i think you should have smacked the SOB just on general principle. The expence and trouble really pisses ya off, especially when you could be doing something better.
Keep in mind though, an insurance claim would add points and cost you more than the parts.
Anything in the ditch bedsides the damn starfish? I been grabbing them and have a sore arm from reeling them in. They feel like a 50 pound bass. I also cannot believe how big they are getting!!
