Heads up, S-B members!!!!
http://www.striped-bass.com/vbulleti...&threadid=3288 ...the reference thread.
John I hate using this message board to expose someone, but in this case I feel I must.
Not long ago a member of this board was complaining about people not responding to PMs and not sharing things. After reading his post, and being from the Fall River area, I sent Ed (FlyFisher) a PM asking him about his interests in Fall River. He replied by asking to come fishing with me. I really enjoy helping people so I offered him some help. I offered to meet up with him and try to put him on some keepers as he said he hadn’t caught one in quite some time. Well the other night I took Ed (FlyFisher) to a couple of spots that I thought would be producing keeper size fish, and after leaving the first spot with no luck…we headed to another spot which put Ed (FlyFisher) on to his first keepers of the year. But before we started fishing, we needed HERRING!!…
…SO….
…We headed to a local run and bumped into Goose. He was standing near the outflow of the run and kindly made room so that I could also get some herring. We spent quite some time there, as the herring were not cooperating much that night. Due to the fact that “Ed” and me came a bit late… Goose offered us most of his herring. (Great guy, that Goose!! )…I invited him to join us but he had other plans. We left the run and proceeded to fish with the above results.
…Last night, as I had posted in the “Weekend Plans” thread, I took my father hunting for some stripers. I headed to the same run as the night before and bumped into Redcrabber, another great S-B member . The run was just as dry as the night before, so Red kindly offered my father and me some herring so that we could start fishing and possibly get into some stripes. As the weather got nastier I decided to take my father to a more “out of the nasty” spot. I headed back to the outflow of the run to try and catch some herring for my next spot. There I found a man trying to catch herring. Being courteous, I asked the man if there was room for another person near him, and he said …" NO!…I don’t see how that’s possible …"… so not to make a scene, as my father doesn’t come out often, and not to deter him from coming out again…I moved a little downstream from him not knowing who he was at the time.
…Come to find out, this is the same man who was standing by, watching me and Goose the night before trying to catch herring to try and put him on fish~(two people in that same spot that on this night, he claims there’s no room for!!)~ The same man who complained about people not “sharing” and not being helpful. Ed, you knew there was room for two people you seen it done the night before!!...yet you wouldn’t share a spot that I showed you, the thing you complained so much about on your post and it appears you’re the guilty one! Ed, I didn’t know you but took you in, showed you some spots, got you into some fish…and that’s how you behave toward the locals? If I’d a known that was you at the time…(nah, I’m not going there from behind a keyboard) I’m sure we’ll meet again!
…The meaning of this thread is to open the eyes of other caring and sharing board members who may have wondered about “helping” someone out and hesitated to do so. I learned a valuable lesson from you Ed, (the one thing I thank you for!)
YOUR ALL DONE WITH ME!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As petty as this seems, I felt I should give you truth about Mr. Ed!!!
Bloocrab, that sucks !!!!!!!!
thats one of the reasons the guys from the old school said {or say} very little//////////
I,ve had the good fortune of meeting and fishing with some great people on this site, we have all shared things, places ,how to.s and its been alot of fun
But you never know, I hope doesn,t hurt what this great site has been//////////////
When you choose to share its a roll of the dice, I,ve been burnt before to I hear you////////// it relly makes you gun shy to offer again -------------- Keep On Fishing later/////
ENJOY WHAT YOU HAVE !!!
Bloo maybe next time you should take me with you.  That is a real downer, I hope that does'nt stop you from helping people. I noticed since you joined this site that you have been very helpful to numerous people. I know that you help was appreaciated by most if not all. If you want to slug it out with the crowds, we are meeting at Red top's parking lot a 4am, you are more than welcome, as are any other members.
On the herring note, I have not been having much luck keeping mine alive. The first time out I blew a fuse in my cig cord. I did'nt have a replacement, they all died. Tonight it was slim pickings, I got my 25 after abnout an hour and a half, only to have my deep cell battery crap out. Lost em all again. So on the way home I bought a new deep cell, the other one was 4 yrs old. I also got a new cig lighter cord. I also have been having a problem with the air not being infused, it starts ok then just stops. I must be doing something wrong.  Oh well fresh dead is just as good, and my sisters boyfriend has some live ones, if they make it through the night.
Thats Bull  ,
one hand washs the other ? If ED's not makin room me, I'll help my self, ......I don't play that chit . I do my fair share of scouting for bait & fishin spots.... not just to hand it over to a stranger in the night !
Earlyer this year I meet Bloo at a run, the tide was high and he managed ta net one herrin, Bloo insisted I fish it while he waited for more to show.......wouldn't ya know I banged my first keeper of the year on that herrin.......mean while, Bloo hadn't netted another fish. By the time he did it was low tide and fishin turned off. I hope to put him on some fish one of these days.
You can only fool fisherman for so long. Some times it takes just one night ta tell if your a fake or not ! At least offer to get your hands wet. Bloo's Striper Guide Service , "the royal treatment for free".........learn how to tie a herrin fly !
What a crummy thing to do. That guy is definitely designated as "persona non grata" as far as I'm concerned.
Bloo things like that happen but not often. Most guys you meet and show them a few things are usually all right. Specialist check your inflow it may have some scales in it, that is usually the problem.
This is kind of scary. You can feel the anger in the posts. I am sure we have all run into inconsiderate fishermen over the years and unfortunately we may run into them in the future. Thats why it is so important to be considerate to your fellow man. Just keep in mind "As you sow, so shall you reap". My fishing brothers. Tight lines boys.
Hey Bloo, that's awful. Man, that's just bad karma. People do suck. Remember John's thread about stupid people and how they should have to wear a sign. Well people should have to wear a sign that says I Suck. Maybe I'm just getting cynical as I get older, but I run into more and more people that just suck. It's like they're some sort of sub-human species. More power to birth control is what I say. Bad karma, he'll get his in the end.
I've put "this experience" and "ED"....behind me....
Let's just get back to whats important.....FISHING!!!....and trying to help when you think you can.....
...I didn't want this to be a "Bash Ed" thread...I just wanted to give you all the heads up...on things that happen, and maybe learn from my experience as I have...I probably should have just sent him a PM...but I didn't want to play PM wars, plus it wouldn't all fit in a PM....when I'm angry with someone, I'm not much for talking never mind typin', if you know what I mean...
...but anyways........COME ON CUTTY!!!!
I don't want to see this as a bash FF trip either. As Bloo said, he's gotten beyond this.
Ed, if there is a thread of truth in this, you owe Bloo an apology. He was pretty accomodating to offer and take you out and to reciporcate in that sorta way. Not good. While you're not PNG here, it would be worth your while to do what needs to be done...
Thanks...
John
As this board has read and had an opportunity make comment to my inexcusable behavior. I deserve them all.
I want to first thank Bloo for taking time out to help me and also Goose
In addition I apologize for my thoughtless behavior.
I won’t attempt to explain what happen, but in this case ignorance is no excuse. You have every right to be angry with me. I just joined the ranks of individuals that we all make effort to avoid.
Bloo, the irony to this unfortunate incident was I was looking for you so that I could share what few herring I had.
On a nicer note!
I was at Gulbert Stewart herring run last Wednesday evening and there was a gentleman there just passing time catching herring and offering them to all of us who were there. I thanked him for each and every one he gave me.....! Takes all kinds of people to make the world go round I guess.
Bummer
Bloo,
I am very sorry you went through that bad experience.
There should always be a little give and a little take when it comes to these things.
