anyone got any insite? I am headed up there for a wedding and am looking to fish a bit sat am.

I was there last year .. Kinda tourist trap area place..There's so many buildings and shops . I don't even know how you'd get at the water . I ate at a grease pit that had a back deck you could eat on . Thats the only time I saw the water there . Before you go over the bridge to Booth Bay there's a little red shack on the left called "Red Eats" I think . People go nuts for there overflowing lobster rolls,,always a line at that hole in the wall .. I got a hadock plate there that was great .. I was kicking around for a week stayed on Westport Island and put some good time in fishing .. 1 12" bass to show for it . I wasn't impressed with the fishing ... hundreds of seals where I was . Enjoy the Wedding ...

I'll give you a SPOT clue. You figure out how find it and to fish it on your own.

If you can see Fishermans island your in a good spot.....

If you want some live bait, try going down to the Marina with a diamond jig and sabiki. There are plenty of mackerel there.

After you cross the Sheepscot River (just after Red's Eats on the left, take a right and look for signs to Fort Edgecomb. Fish at the shore between the Fort and, I think its Barter's island. I had a great morning in there about 10 years ago, caught 8-20+ pounders at 10:00 A.M. they were on a large school of Pogies that passed directly in front of us and there is good moving water between the shore and the island... RED's - oh, man ............... I could go for a couple of lobster rolls now!

Losterman's Co-op chow isn't too shabby either.

Hit the bowling alley in town. Some good pin ball machines there as well.

Fishing: Rockland has lots of jettys.

The only thing that stinks about Reds is the freakin line.

Sarahs' in the middle of January makes a MEAN chili stew with home-made bread...

If you like to eat I can show you ALL those good spots

Le Garage is the nuts...Robinsons wharf-pitcher of beer and twin bugs with all the fixings

93 Townsend, I can't even remember the name of the wharf further up the road I know how to get there but forget the town it's on the road where you take a left off 27 across from Hannafords.

Bintliffs for strawberry crepes with choc sauce....while ya sit in a nice easy chair

We eat well when we work up there. Biggest tab was $354 for 3 guys in one nite

Don't go to Red Eats at lunch time .. humungus line to little red shack .. go before or after lunch .. say 11:00 am or 2:00 -3:00 pm .. Any later you start getting into the supper crew . Sarahs right across the street ? I think I went there too .. Best thing I did in Maine was go to the Maritime Museum in Bath right behind Bath shipyard . Most of the old buildings and contents still standing from the hay day of wooden ship building . great stuff

Eddie, Sarahs is right direct across from Red's place, and further down that same street is Le Garage-on left before the boat ramp/public dock

Bintliffs is just across the river on the same side as Sarah's.

I've seen lines at Red's at 10 am

Food is a greater passion that anything else.

Sorry for the thread hijack.... lol.

I'm not a big guy, but I have hollow legs and endless belly when it comes to food.

I can't drink alcohol - allergic to it... makes me sick.

I always like to pop into Moody's Diner for some walnut pie and the liver & onions is pretty good.

Prices are pretty fair as well.

I usually go up to BB after Labor Day - lines are shorter and not as many tourists. Red's line were just a dozen deep.

If you don't want to wait in line for an hr like we did on Wednesday: walk across the street daigonally to the dock/pier and try Sprague's!

The lobster roll & hand cut fries at Spraque's was better than Red's.

There was more lobster meat heaped into the roll at Red's (what happened to the light mayo - it was replaced w/ clarified butter on the side now: roll was cold and the meat was cold which caused me to think it was shelled day or so before and roll was just as chilled). Sprague's meat was seasoned with a light mayo on it (small bed of shreaded lettuce as well) - roll was HOT.

I had two lobster rolls and a clam cake burger (top notch) at Red's w/ some fried. Cross the street and had another lobster roll & hand cut fries ...... lol. First tab was $60 at Red's: my wife had lobster roll and daughter wanted a hot dog (not foot long any more, but she said it was good). Sprague's was almost $20. I had a great food coma going on!

Tide had gone out and it was time to head back south to LL Bean outlet store so I didn't get a chance to wet a line.
