New Saltiga Surf Reel- any good?

The Daiwa.com site says that there is a new reel coming out called the Saltiga Surf which is supposed to be washable with a sealed drag and is lighter than the regular Saltiga- at 18 ounces. Picture attached. Has a 4500, 5000, 5500 and 6000 model sizes. (the 6000 model holds 730 yards of 30 pound braid !) I saw somewhere that its supposed to be around $400 but who knows. Only makes sense if it is less than a regular saltiga.

Anyone hear anything about it or what it may go for? Supposed to be out in October.

I should be out fishing not looking at new reel porn.

Heard the same thing. Around 400 clams. I'm not sure if that 18 oz weight holds true for the 5000 thru 6000 sizes, tho. The 4000 and 4500 Saltiga Z models go about 20, while the 5000 and 6000 run 29.

And in that picture, it looks more like a beefed up Emblem Pro than a Saltiga Wonder whether it'll be Japanese made?

I don't know about China, but many Daiwas are made on the Asian mainland. The Emblem Pro is made in Thailand.

Some pretty pricey Shimanos, including the Thunnus, are made in Malaysia.
