Gibbs Polaris Lure

Anyone date this lure by chance? The address on the back label carries a Billerica Address.

Late 80s/early 90s. Jim Griecci bought the company from John Gibbs in that time frame, and made them from Billerica for the first year or two, before moving to Yarmouth.

Thanks Mike - I thought it was just about that time frame- I didn't know that they actually were made in Billerica. Good info. By the way - if there are any fishermen on this site from the Gloucester area, there is a fish store on Bearskin Neck - It is on the right hand side about half way down the neck. Just before the opening leading to Motif. He has a bunch of these for sale -- 5 bucks each. He has polaris in variious sizes and colors. (Colors are limited) Pencil poppers various again and some Bob Ponds Atoms. Atoms are almost all gone. He also has Cod jigs in various weights - 2 bucks each. He told me he bought out a bait shop about ten years ago and wants to get rid of these!

LIke an idiot, I took all of my Gibbs from their original packages (with both Sagamore and Billerica addies) and put them in huge Plano boxes. Years ago.

I never figured on them becoming gems. Mainly because I never figured on Gibbs quality going down the crapper.

They're probably still in my regular fishing rotation, too.

Crap. After reading that you tried to buy the company before, I thought this meant you were buying it now. At least then we'd know the quality was gonna go up.
