i need to upgrade my memory for some new software. how do i tell what type of memory to get for my computer? thanks in advance

Crucial is a decent source and pretty accurate.
But what model computer do you have? Speed / current memory?

you really need to check your hardware compatibility list (HCL) you dont want to get something and have it not work.
matching memory is important as well if you are running dual channel.

I Gig is probably the max on those...
Go to cruciual and order the memory is probably the safest bet.
