Penn 704

I just finished this for my father. He's down in the Everglades and I thought he would get a kick out of it.

Thumbs up

What an awesome job that you did with that!!

I'd be interested in process of; stripping, finishing, drilling.......

Most of it was green. It was beat and missing a lot of parts. It took a lot of sanding and buffing.

Good job! Dad should be happy, I know I would if someone gave me that. I wouldn't use it.

Be encouraging, not discouraging

that is one sweet reel. your father is very lucky to have such a caring son. do you need a drill press to do the job? interested in divulging a little more of the process. i would love to try that on one of my old greenies.

I used a drill press and just spaced everything equal. It wasen't that hard. My drill press has the lasers lines and I used them to mark the holes on the top of the spool opposite each other. I made a template for the roter cup which I used on both sides to keep it the same.

Nice work. Sorry for my ignorance, but I have a Penn 704 (yup, the green/aqua color one, it has to be older then 30 years). It was given to me many years ago because the owner never used it. Well, I've only used it a couple of times maybe, so it is in mint condition.

is it worth much? Should I add it to my arsenal, or due to it's age keep good care of it more for nostalgic purposes?

well worth on e-pay they r all different it is a good work horse it will never let u down as in todays standards it's old but it's simple to fix a good all round reel I have 2 704's and one 706 I really don't use anymore i think if u have the box and papers it is worth more on e-pay
