Dogfish???

I almost fell off the couch when I saw this, but it looks like the Germans are trying to put Dogfish on the CITES (convention of international trade in endangered species) list. IS this for real???

they love 'em over there--fish and chips. Could be a different species than what we've got over here. I think they may call them tope? The English love too, same with the French.

One would think we could get a market for them. Make some money and also thin the herd. Spoil quick however.

There is a directed dogfish fishery. They often catch large striped bass in the EEZ as bycatch. This is one commercial argument for the allowable catch for stripers in the EEZ, they want to sell their bycatch. But, if this is allowed, there will guaranteed be more "bycatch" of bass, since they bring more $$ per pound than dogfish.

Arrow doesnt surprise me

they can have ours....

Once when out in California i was doing
business with these French people who were nice
enough....but when visiting the backyard i saw this
chunk of beef the size of a loaf of bread sitting
next to a hot grill...ok , but there were all these flies
landing on it ...bunches of them....and crawling all over it....

then i watched in horror as the young son sliced off a
1 inch thick slab to begin cooking it....

asking me if i'd like to have some....

needless to say.... i was on my way.

they think CARP is delicious too
