Yep. It's OK, but nothing like Eddy's. I can make it roll, but only at retrieve speeds I wouldn't use. The reason I built it was to test out an idea someone else posted showing a scooped lip. Can't say it made much difference on this plug. Then again, there is a lot about darters I don't understand. I've built plenty of good ones, but only by copying someone else's (Pinchney's) design. Maybe next winter.

If you play with the darter more...

You might want to extend the slope on the darter farther back, I send mine at least 1/2 way up to about 2/3 back...

Also scoop the lip up to the middle of the face. I do mine on a belt sander.

Thanks. I was thinking along the same lines, sorta like a bottle darter without the bottle shape. If you've got a picture please feel free to post it, I'm interested to learn you've got the idea to work. I've always used darters in moving water, but at the end of last year I started experimenting with them in still water, using a slow retrieve and small twitches of the rod tip. Some of them (the older style Gibbs in particular) look very appealing fished like this.......kind of like a needlefish that will dive and swim a bit. I'm also intrigued by the wide variety of freshwater darters sold over the years. I suspect it is a plug design that hasn't been developed very much in saltwater and about which there is still much to be discovered.

Love those jointed ones George. The others are beautiful too. Nice Job.

Inspirational work as always, George! If I may make a comment on the Big Os tho. Keep your plug bag closed and your Tazer charged! Outstanding!!
