It is almost done! Oohh Darlin . . .

This was about 2 weeks ago. The motor is hung and right now just about the whole thing is done and should be done by April 13th, next Friday. The tabs are on in this picture and they were working out the console and guage placement per my specs. 2007 250 Verado should be very, very sweet. I was always a 2 stroke guy but after doing all the research on these motors, I was sold on all the positives. The only 2 negatives are weight, about 140lbs more than a 2 stroke and fuel consumption at WOT or anywhere above about 4,500 rpm but I don't push my motors much past 4,000 rpm anyway so I'll be fine.

This second one was taken just last week and the leaning post is in with the 4 rocket launchers on the back and they worked out the console with 1/2 a storage bin with a locking door and the other half with my tach over my speedo and I'll have the rest to flush mount my GPS/FF if I decide to put it there and not on a bracket as I worry about the thieves. It was nice being able to locate the wheel, throttle, switches and guages anywhere I wanted on the console since I know exactly where what works where over the years and I was able to do that in this build.

I chose a red waterline stripe as I will be painting the bottom with Vivid Red so the contrast will be nice especially with the red docklines I'll be getting to set it all off. I'll be sure to put a space between the stripe and the bottom paint in case it needs to go all the way up to the stripe. After making the decision, I wondered if the stripe was too Boston Whaler-ish since I did a search and found that many Whalers are given a red waterline stripe but no matter, I will enjoy the contrast and if I don't like it I'll peel the thing off if I can.

The hardest part, isn't there always a hard part?, is that I can't get down to FL until May 21 and it will be done, just sitting in the Florida sun until I can get my butt down there. Oh well, spring is here and the time should fly by as it has for me anyway as I'm having a grand old time whiling my days away until Saturday and Sunday come around. Let me know what you all think.

I might be flying down there next weekend just to view it and make sure everything is good to go, then I'll most likely be driving down with my Dad and towing it back here to MA.

I'm sure I'll be taking it out with the builder down there, maybe taking a day or a 1/2 day to run around the area then heading back up. I have to take at least some time to go out around there, even if only in the ICW just because it is Florida after all and we'll probably never get the chance to boat there again once it is in MA, so we'll take the time in late May.
