Skeg repair
Boat I'm looking to buy has a significant portion of skeg missing. Anyone familiar with this repair option?

Otherwise it's off with lower unit to weld shop, and service while it's apart...

I just saw that on a fishing show yesterday. It looks like a great option. You just glue it on and set the tilt on motor so you can put a block under skeg for 24 hrs. to hold in place. It comes with everything.

Hmmm. Also discovered this bend and break on the port side cavitation plate of lower gearcase.... Think I should weld it?
Also a pic of skeg, which I will probaly get welded too.

Drain it, pull the prop and take the lower unit to Kentfab in Norwell. They'll take a plasma cutter, slice the old skeg off and weld a new one on and you won't be able to tell it comes out so clean. It is @$175. They can also weld up the cav plate.
