I got my first surf rod today, i just want to know if my set up is ok. I am thing of throwing plugs in the 2-4 ounce range. I purchased a 10'6 ugly stick custom surf rod It is rated for 2 - 12 ounces and it's pretty rugged,i think it is heavy action. I paired it with a quantum great white spinning reel, Cabelas had it on sale so I went with it. I have fished inshore for years but this will be my first really hitting the surf. Has anyone used this rod and if so how is it. Thanks And I apologize for sounding like a noob. What is the length most comonly used ? Would the 11'6 I was looking at have been overkill?
