Secret to doing nail knots?
I know im using too large a diameter tube for these, but are there any secrets for doing nail knots with 40+lb mono?

Try to pinch the th 40lb mono to the tube, while pinching it all the loops should "lean" the same. Keep pinching it until you pull the tag end. As you pull the tag you will fell the "leaning" loop become tight.

used a smaller tube for doing them and it helped significantly.
and i got what you were saying and that helped too.

Get a nail knot tool at your local flyshop I think it's called Kwick tie. Great tool and has solved all my nail knot problems. FishHawk

Some coffee shops have nice little straw-like stirrers that work great, and the price is right. Grab a few if you see them.
