Not so great for me some schoolies and small blues. Im doing a little better on the kayak.Lets here how some of you are doing, I know the boat guys are having a great year so far.

Getting plenty of Blues seems like a lot compared to last year or atleast this early.

I am fishing the shore of the bay and not getting anywhere near the numbers of schoolies or keepers that I have in years past while fishing the same spots. I recently chunked in some of my favorite plugging spots and still was seeing little results. I'll be trying different areas in the bay and may be able to find some decent numbers of fish. Meanwhile my favorite holes are producing very few fish.

the bays been slow from shore because the fish are deep and on bunker,no need for them to move in close even at night.south shore has been slow also however the last two times out I found some better fish finally.So I 'am hoping things will turn around now that were in june.

live in matunick and i'm now thinking of moving to warwick. when the bay warms a little more, they'll be back. a surprising lack of blues, though.

I love the surf. All things being equal ("all things" meaning bait and fish in the vicinity) there is no doubt that I would rather be standing on the rocks or the sand, partially submerged, catching fish. At my present state of my surf fishing apprenticeship, size is still secondary (although I have dreams of getting lucky and going LARGE one of these nights). I am trying to learn to fish a new plug or two every season. THAT BEING SAID, it's time like these that I go back to one of my self arguements: "boat is great, can go to the fish instead of waiting for them to come to you." (guy on the other shoulder says) "to much work, you never have much time to fish, you live 5 minutes from 3 or 4 beautiful stretches of shore, who cares if you catch, GAS$$$$$, ETC..." Sure would be nice to fire up a motor with the local knowledge needed to avoid the IDIOTS I see out there, (even from shore,) and go find bait, and fish. (and clams and squid and bugs and all the bounty of the sea... God I love living near the ocean) but my ultimate plan is to develop my proficiency at all the classic and modern plugs and build a repertoire of local SPOTS that I can flip through after checking the tide and weather reports to maximize my fishing opportunities and efficiency. So to finally answer the original question, nothing over 15 pounds for me from shore so far this year... and I'm not in RI (but close enough). Let you know if that changes tonight. Headed out the door right now.

I've been trying all my good shore spots still very spotty. I'm going out early thursday to try some other spots. Saturday and sunday i'll be close to shore drifting eels on the yak i'll keep you updated.

I had a great day Monday off East beach in Charlestown. A few schoolies and a close to 30 lb that measured 31". First keeper of the year for me!

31" 30#? That must be some kind of record or something. Usually, my 31" are around 12#. Maybe he meant 41". That definitely is fathomable.

1800-0100 Nada from shore last night, a few blewfish were taken though, small very small. Perfect live linging size, work is stopping me from being out during the day which seems to be when theyre tossing on the feedbag. Praying for the bay temperatures to become unbearable so these fish start dropping. Wont give up though, still hunting and pecking.

fished for 4 hrs last night with the bunker slayer aka TO for nada, except Tony actually caught a pogie on a blurple redfin. the thing nailed it, hooked right in the corner of the mouth and everything. very bizarre.

there isn't a fish in the ocean that man can't catch.

The surf action was good up until 3 weeks ago. Since then stinko. For example, my last 4 trips, 3 fish , the largest 18lbs.. I even used live eels the other night and took the skunk. Something is definitly wrong.

Im taking fish in the mid to upper 20# class over the last couple weeks. Just fishing the same old spots. Bunker make for fat fish, but shouldnt effect how and where your fishing on a regular basis

Some nights a few other night, zilch. I.ll beout this weekend though, I feel a few are going to be taken.
