Yes Happy Birthday but the memory of the pitiful sight of him in his wheelchair at the show in Providence show will reamin with me more than all the other occasions I had to chat with him over the years.
I wanted to cry that day, it was really just an awful spectacle for such a once proud man. Just a shame.
|
Why even try.........

In addition to his great lure manufacturing, how many people are aware of his role in bringing back striped bass from the brink of extinction? Stripers Unlimited, and his research on pollutants in Chesapeake bay and egg viability? This guy has done more than just about anybody for the good of our sport and our favorite resources.

Congrats Bob - If it wasn't for Bob I would have got lost coming back from the southern states years ago. . He was always in attendence helping out and being a mentor. He dedicated his life to the future of the Striped Bass.

Happy Birthday Bob and thanks for all you've done for stripers!
and as far as being a "spectacle" ,yeah it's sad that we get old (if we're lucky)and the machinery breaks down a little, but Bob wanted to be there. He and his wife Avis both had a good time. When I gave Bob the book Eric Burnley just dedicated to him he and Avis held hands and smiled from ear to ear,and that sight will be with me forever.

I myself did not see a pitiful sight. What I saw is a great man seeing old friends and catching up on memories.

I think every one that calls themselves a "fisherman" has at one time or another, caught a fish on one of his lures. I know I have. Thanks.

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.
1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!
It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

The Atom popper was a standard in everyone's surf bag back in the 70s and 80s. The swimmer in the early 90s. I was a member of Stripers Unlimited from when Bob started it and I have a couple of the patches and decals I never put out. I will put them on my truck....someday.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB AND THANKS FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR THE STRIPERS!!!
