What to do when the fish HATE you.

ok.. that's it. after 2months of bass not hitting anything we throw at them. we have determined the bass hate us. people next to us catch em on the same crap. keepers even. we take our buddies and they will catch fish while remain skunked. perfect conditions for fishing.. fish jumping every where.. wont hit chunks or various sorts. wont hit poppers, minnows, sluggos, shads, tins, nothin.. unless it's not ours. in most cases that top water is never directly in front of us. for 10 to 20mins it goes on.. assuming the currents will bring it our way we wait for it.. and when we finally move the 20- 30 yards over.. guess where it is.. right where we were for 2hours before..and when we chase em back.. guess where it ends up then.. yeah right back where we just moved to and spent 20 mins in dead water.. of course as soon as well leave, we hear the stories about the spot got instantly better from strangers in the bait shop. (we try and dismiss them as stories but it happens to often)

i know we all have stories of awful slumps. but usually those come when ya cant figure out what they are eating or where they are. we have the local area pegged. for every time and every tide. and they are biting the stuff we are using.. just not when it's connected to our hands in one way or another.

so i need some curse breakers.. or ways to appease the fish and make them like us again. we had a good run june through july.. but then they just started not liking us. what can we do?!

honestly this isn't that serious of a thread.. just wondering what some guys rituals are when the fish seem to hate em. ya know you have some sort of whacky superstition. i personally might start wearing my old hat that i wore while catching all those fish in june. even though the stitching is falling apart and it pokes into my head.. hey if the sox can win the WS while i was wearing that hat i guess it must be lucky.

but really are throwing everything we have at fish we can see feeding and getting nothing.. so frustrating. especially tonight when everything was perfect.. no moon, dense fog, light west wind (in our area anyway), fish jumping every where. and laid into nada.

go eat a big plate of fish and chips

you need to consume the flesh of the enemy in order to overpower them.

i was on a 0/11 slump... ate some fish and chips and a striped bass taco in the same week, and viola!

BrianS!!!!! We have the same "superstition" !!! I know its probably pure coincidence but we were in a slump and had some striper that had been in the freezer for a while saying "we need to eat fish to catch fish" HAHAHA....well we started catching after we ate it! silly yes but it has "worked" several times now!!!!

Simplify.......

I am willing to bet you have been cursed by some type of evil spirit. In order to vanquish this spirit you must build an altar (the bigger the better)and bless it with pogie oil. Then the pay homage to it. Have a firm believer (one who catches)ceremonisly baptize you and all your plugs with the above mentioned pogie oil. You must pay homage to this altar any time you fish in this general area for the rest of your life. I learned about how to remove these bad spirits one day while watching charmed.

good luck and keep the faith

do you really think that's bad! I've fished the NorthEast for 12 years now and have never ever caught a Keeper ! Honest. I've fished with the best and the only thing i've been able to catch anywhere was the enemy. oh yeah ..and a cold.

i'm in the same boat. been fishing since as far i can remember.. freshwater for about 10 years then i switched over and i'm about 10 years on that give or a take a few off seasons in my teens. only two catches worth talking about are a 5 or 6lb largemouth and a 6 1/2lb pickerel.
on good days i lay into those "almost" fish, left and right. maybe i will get one today.. but it could be tainted..

we got boats.. goin out in like 30 mins. despite my mixed feelings on boat caught fish. as long i dont catch it trolling. trolling takes something away from it for me. i dunno why.. boats do to. but i figure if the boats in one spot and i'm forced to work like i'm on shore..it doesnt matter.

I feel you pain brother. My last three outings I have had busting fish and tons of bait all around me....toying with me, sticking out their little fishy toungues saying "na, na, na na, na.

I have resorted to (b/c I didnt have a cast net) snagging peanut bunker, yes you read it right , snagging peanuts. They are so thick that I had to burn a tandem snag rig through the schools to catch a handleful.

Live lining peanuts I am such a loser.
