Black bucktails
Looking for a good source of black bucktails (smilin' bill style). I've always been fond of the standard white jigs , but I know a few guys like black as well. I would like to try them for myself, but I havent really been able to find them.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

M&Ds sells black ball jigs but not smilin' bills.
Rocky Point Fishing Stop on LI has an e-store and sells black (and also purple) bills to 3 oz.

I bought a jig mold there (CMS) last winter and made my own smilin bills in the 3/4 to 2oz sizes. Good way to kill some time in the winter. Also leaves you with an unlimited lifetime supply of jigs in various sizes and colors. Just a thought.

I think I read that the guy who was tying them for Tim isn't making them any more.

Will Tim still be stocking the round heads for plastics? Those are nice too.

It looks like it. A couple of weeks ago the 4 and 5 oz sizes were on backorder. Looks like he now has them in stock.
For the bucktails, he has a disclaimer on the order page that "sorry, we are no longer taking orders for these bucktails"
I think the guy who was making them basically couldn't keep making them as cheap as Tim would like to sell them--lead has gone up in price, and when you add in dying the hair, painting and baking the heads, tying, I guess it wasn't cost-effective for him to keep doing it.
The ball jigs are plain lead and there, it's just a question of melting and pouring.
