Reel for jigging tuna?

I'm looking for a single reel that will be used for jigging/live-baiting/and chunking for tuna.Financially,I can only get one reel,so it's gotta be strong enough for BIG fish.I'm leaning towards the Accurate boss magnum.Any advice would be appreciated,Thanx.

An overlooked reel that is great for chunking & would allow you to justify buying a jigging specific reel is an Okuma Titus Silver 50W.

I've got one Avet Lx 6.0 it's a nice tuna jigging real - not bad on price either, about $240.

I'm getting a couple of the new Fin-nor offshore conventional reels when they come out this spring - 6 to 1 gear ratio should be sweet for jigging.

You don't mention if you fish on a private boat or party boat for tuna - but I'll assume party boat . . . you will likely only be allowed to fish mono on the bait rod . . . 80 to 100 lb so that's what will dictate the reel - something in the 50 class - I use an International 50W. Not ideal for jigging (too heavy) but many of the others mentioned will not hold enough mono

If you fish off a private boat or one that allows braid - your choices are expanded - you mentioned the Accurate - I use a 2 speed 665W with 100 pound braid for my jigging reel.

fwiw, I've been in the market for a conventional reel and I think I'm going with the Avet LX6. Bass Pro just started carrying them recently. I'm not sure if they're at the stores yet but you can get one on line for $259.99

Accurate makes a nice smooth reel. Avet is a nice reel also and cheap. Avet has problems with their drags. Search the net for more specifics. Penns 30 vsx is another great choice if you are using braid with a top shot. Personally when jigging I use Penn's 16 VSX with 80 lb line 1 spectra with a loop to loop connection to 100 pound mono. Holds more than enough line to catch 99 % of the tuna encountered. I have 600 yards and a top shot on that reel. I killed a few 150-200 pond tuna with this set up this year. We also caught canyon fish (mahi, yft, and wahoo) trolling on that rod and use it to pull spreader bars when "small" people are on board on the bank and out east. It is light and has a great drag system. The 30vsx is another great setup and will hold 1000 yards of 80 jb line 1. If you have any questions pm me.

Newell. Good drag, high gear ratio, very lightweight. Don't know the model #s, but one around the size of a 4/0 would be about right. Load with braid, then a long topshot of mono.

Sounds ugly, but is virtually indestructible.
