Sufix

Larry Dahlberg of Versus's show 'the hunt for big fish' puts light rods lay-ed over vertical and soxed down drags screaming, anyone who's watched that show knows the kind of fish he's after and the pressure he puts on them, he uses sufix on spinning reels so I'd imagine it would be fine on convch too. It doesn't seem like its very popular around here, why not? What are the pros and cons of sufix?

I put a spool full of suffix 30 lb on a abu 6500 reel. It casts well and I had no issues with wind knots or backlashing. It didn't dig in like fireline on a coventional after putting strain on the line. (after catching large) I do run a shock leader back and two or three revolutions around the reel. To sum it up, good performance!

Goose,

I used 50# Sufix braid on both spin and convench this past season with no problems to report. Go and give it a shot this year.

I've fished the tritanium (sp) in 17#test... Honestly was just as strong as Trilene 25# but at a smaller diameter... Not much of a mono guy anymore...
But my braid of choice is the Sufix braid, easy on the fingers...

Sufix

Goose,
Been using the Tritanium Plus for two years now. Better than Big Game and I've been using that for 22 years without a change. Works great on convench, haven't tried on spinning. Only problem is it's hard to find around here and you pay a premium when you find it.

I bought a bulk spool of 30lb and really like this braid. Only brand that's seemed nicer was the Saltiga braid at 2wice the price

Sooner or later you're going to realize just as I did that there's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path. - Morpheus
