It doesn,t get any better
I was charged up to post today but Bill & Iron Mike gotthe cake We,ll anyway -I went fishing today!!!!!!!!!
didn,t even leave til 10;30 am to catch the drop----- super high tide, ran around the corner where I hit 10 fish Sunday evening ,,,after a few cast ,no hits I split=- travel this time of the year I round a bend ,and the birds are working, only other person there is a kid on a skiDoo and hes fishing ,no racing ,jusy slowly moving, then standing on the back ,hes catching and releasing
I cast on i,m on ,a nice fat 6lb schoolie,I say away from the birds and work the shoreline & rockpiles
cast again ,6lb Blue, cast again ,wam --20-30 minute fight 36' blue by far the largest I,ve caught in the bay in a while
Now I,m thinking blues, the bass was a mistake, for the rest of the day bass,BAss,BAss-----------all nice bay plugging fish ,nothing under 6LBs not as much Bait some bait trying to hide on the shoreline <><>< they wanted it on top ,tried going leadhead, bucktail to what I thougt would be quicker action & release, wrong ----- caught a few that way but no way compared to the topwaters
If I made 100 casts --I had 90 casts with either fish on or muti hits,
Caught a 26" fish with a tag[someone else reported earlier]the fish had open soars around the tag plus she was carrying mung, by know the kid has left -he must of had a commitment--- I did too and no phone number to call him and try and change times , I couldn,t blow him off even thou I felt it was a wasted appointment, I wish people thought the same for me///// WE,ll I knew my time was getting short,my wife called to see where I was,SHE knew I had that appointment
all fish caught in1to 5 feet of water/
Now the bigger fish are around I maove to a rip that pulls me south, casting to the shore I catch 5 straight keepers.3 between 12 & 15 lbs
NOW , I cast again Bamb#### I,m on and I can,t slow her down !!!!!!!!! But I can chase her so off we go up ,around and thru a bolder field, this is a big fish for the gear that I use, matter of fact most of these fish ,gave it a testing
after about 20 minutes she rises, just so I can see that its a bass, no thrashing just showing off , ---and off we go again I,ve gained some line but shes still way out ////
She comes up again but this time closer shes all of 30lbs==== on thrashing or twisting she slowly opens her mouth and out comes the plug, [Chit]would have been the biggest fish I,ve caught on a plug/ and extra special being in the bay------
Time to leave and I left the fish still there, not a soul around
I,ve on the water 45 years and commercially caught more & much larger fish
But for me this was hte day you dream of

Cool Mike, glad you had a good day. I've got to start my travels south now to follow the fish, so you and I need to get together for a day. Let me know what your schedule is like and if you can go short notice. Your boat, my boat, shore, I don't care, I'm easy .

hey G.S.
G. S. met you at mikes for the last ma. leg. i've not fished the canal in 15years when we did we used to throw live herring and let it drift. things have changed over the years. i'm talking back in 80's.well now that i think back it might be 25years.they say older wiser but the ditch is a tough spot! but guys on here will teach you the basics . and you watch and learn from them. that's the best part when some one gives you a hint and you can pick up on it and get yourself a nice fish. to me that's what fishing is all about. to all our s-b brothers this is the time to get personal bests!!!!!! so get out and good fishing............

Very nice Clammer... nothin' sweeter than bein' on fish all by yourself. The sweetest thing about my vacation this year was not having to compete with others for fish. Nobody motorin' through the school. I really appreciated after the whole summer in Boston Harbor.
A guy fishin' on a jetski? I wonder if he hates himself when he is actually fishing 'cause I think all fishermen hate jetskiers.
Glad you had some fun.

Todays followup----- didn,t get there until 3 pm
found a few fish the last spot i fished yesterday
tough fishing up close the bottom few hours of the tide///
moved a 1/2 mile to another rip no fish or bait showing, but I set up and started plugging anyway, they were there , dropped the anchor the fish were in 6' to 3ft of water ,again had a ball .largest 31' about 11lbs,& again only poppers
although there were other boats out tonight I had them to my self ===== no one would get that close,my motor was hitting bottom
Mutoonic, no bluefish!!!!!!!!!!! yesterday was by accident, kind of like when you go fishing --and Zero out
Chris,olive green can you figure
ON A SERIOUsS NOTE coming in I saw all kinds of Coast Guard Boats up North, plus the heli was just over my head, I made contact with , first reports One Man dead another missing and the think they were diggers ,because there was product in the boat, they arepresently trying to get the boat off the rocks at Rocky Point --- Someone screwed up -- its clear & flat calm-
I helped to look for the lost guy but once it got dark / I couldn,t see and came in////////////////
You never know
kind of took the fun out of today////

John...
I know what you mean about the finicky bass around the peanut bunker...until...I tried some of the Storm Wild Eyes Shads. Almost makes it too easy. They have a 4'' in pearl that has become my go-to bait for the fall blitzes that don't need a big cast to get to. I even thre some at my secret schoolie spot, and it produced better than anything else I've ever thrown at 'em. When the big bass are around though, I see it staying in the bag.
