Penn 710 question

hope someone has a suggestion, I put 20lb power pro in my 710 and have noticed that the line roller is not rolling when the line is drawn across, I can roll it freely with my fingers and I've removed it, lubed it(penn reel lube), removed it and unlubed it, but when I pull the line to adjust the drag it does not roll, I'm wondering if the slick coating on the power pro is just creating less friction than what is needed to start the roller or if I should maybe use a different lube, any thoughts? my concern is that the line will eventually dig into the roller under pressure...thanks in advance

I found a reply by Slipknot to an old post stating that many braids tend to slide across the roller rather than roll and that the best option would be Fireline, still don't know if the sliding braid will damage the roller eventually but I guess I'll switch it up to Fireline and get a new roller to be safe, maybe this will help someone in the future with the same issue/question....

I hose my Power Pro with silicone spray. Makes it cast better, no wear on guides and rollers, and the occasional wind knot comes right out.

thanks BBJ, that makes sense, might help prolong the life of the line as well? this setup was working so well for me for light stuff that I was bummed to realize that the roller wasn't doing it's thing, I guess it's always something...

I have noticed when spooling my 710 with new 20 lb fireline that the roller wasn't rolling. Fireline has a break-in period and the color and coating sort of wear out and the line becomes more limp and less wirey. I have meant to look to see how it is handling now that the line has some trips under it's belt but when I am out there it is too dark. Lots of people using fireline on this reel I wouldn't worry too much, just keep an eye on it.
