North eastern Connecticut warning & be on the lookout
A member on this board and good friend had his Nissan Titan stolen today from the Price Chopper parking lot in Putnam CT. his name is Eric LaFleur ( ESL on this board) I am sure you have heard me mention him.
He had spent the day down here on the Cape fishing and was on his way home this afternoon to Woodstock CT, where he lives. He had a Loomis 8-1/2 2 piece rod and a 8 foot Tidemaster spinning rod with a Shimano reel ( the white one) on it locked in his truck along with his new waders, plug boxes and tool box and cell phone.
It's a full size four door Nissan Titan champagne gold with a custom four tube rod rack on the front with Sandy Neck and P-Town stickers (current) on it. No cap.
If anyone sees or hears of either rod for sale or sees the truck please contact the Putnam CT. Police Dept.
Dirty no good bastards! And yes it was locked.

Since ... i live in the adjoining area
is there any identifiable marks on the truck body itself
a particular scrape or ding ... bullet hole... sorry
a picture sure would be helpful...
you know something to look for besides the
champaign gold color... s-b sticker ???
even the plate number
wouldn't hurt now to know it
keep (us) posted.
Eric sorry some one ....did this to you !

As a Titan owner myself, I can feel his pain.
FYI, Champagne is a rare color in a Titan. All Titans regardles of year are pretty close to identical except for very small differences.
Best of luck in the recovery mission.

That's a drag, for sure. I hope his property if located.
Bad news.

I had a car stolen once, I only turned my back on it for 5 minutes. Went into the house, forgot my cigs, went right back out and there it was gone. What a sick feeling. The kicker was the theives used it to rob houses, so I got to talk to the police for a while, too.

i went into the shop for 1 minute.....came out and it was gone...
then the most frustrating thing was everyone kept telling me they just saw it
driving down this road .... then that road...
by the time i got it back.... the engine had been turned to junk
after ........i had just rebuilt it from the ground UP.
the engine was so toasted it looked like
it had been sprayed with black paint.

Well miracles still do happen, even to nitwits like my pal Eric! At one this morning he was awakened by a knock on his door by a police officer who informed him they found his truck.
Fearing the worst he was surprised when he was told it was found across town in the Sears store parking lot. Key was in it ( they found his magnetic key holder on his frame) and doors locked.
All his fishing gear, rods, tackle bags and tools plus his cell phone and the umpteen dollars in change were still there. Nothing was damaged or stolen.
Apparantley whoever took it just needed to get across town.
Amazingly lucky. He told the police, who told him it had to be someone he knew, that the only person he could think of that would do that was me, but I had an airtight alibi because unfortunately I was at work 100 miles away!

that is great news for Eric.
BTW maybe someone just thought to look under for a keybox or something or else he had some workk done on the truck someplace and an employee noticed the spare kkey and remembered that and needed to get across town.
yep miracles do happen

key boxes are so old every thief knows to looks for them either under the hood/fender or in/on the frame . locked doors only keep the honest and young from entering your vehicle . If they want it you cant stop them . Alarms are worthless too .
It might have been what you said flap . someone needed a ride and why walk when I can steal this car . other wise stuff would have been stolen and the car wrecked .
This is only an opinion .
glad he got it back in good condition and nothing stolen .

yeah weird - but glad everything came back.
he may want to check his cell phone for calls, and see if he can trace back to who ever stole it if they used his phone in the process ...

Okay...so let me see if I got this story straight.
Eric goes to Sears, but thinks he's at Price Chopper. So he walks out of Sears and all the way across town to Price Chopper where he thinks he parked, only to find his truck missing?

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

....He stumbles across town in a zombie-like trance, mumbling just one phrase, "Gotta get me some bass!" over and over again.
If it were someone in my family, there'd be drinking, waking everyone in the house up by ringing that damn dorrbell/chime, and getting and an earful from mom from waking her up at 2 in the morning.
Glad you got your ride and your gear back. That's got to be one hell of a relief.
