Back from Ireland

Just took a ten day trip to Ireland. Other than getting the camera stolen it was an awsome time. Beautiful country and the people are super nice. Here are a few pics AFTER we bought a new camera.

Bobby Sands and company memorial.

He was the leader of the 1981 Hunger Strike, in which Irish Republican prisoners were seeking to regain status as political prisoners, (wikipedia)

view from second b&b

view from the walk going to the fishermans rope bridge.

rope bridge. it was blowing 30 to 40 that day. its like a 80 feet drop or something ridiculous.

pretty much just wicked cool

castle thats a bit drafty

bushmills whiskey tasting tour. I highly reccomend the reserve. sorry for the ugly mug.

Slieve League Donegal though it doesnt look like it from the picture these are the highest cliffs in europe. Hard to find but worth the trip.

cliffs of moher (very touristy)

best dog ever. (other than mine)

"pub session" know how to play. have an instrument? sit and play.

if you ever have a chance to get over there it's well worth the trip. you don't even need to be irish

I took a trip in 2005 to C. Cork. Could not have been more impressed with the people, the country, and the culture. Looks like you got about the same experience.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Great pics.
the first b&b we stayed at, the wife took care of the b&b part and the husband did fishing charters on the rivers. (not a bad gig if you ask me) we were on a strict budget since the Euro was 1.59 to 1.00 while we were over there, so yea, no fishing this time. but NEXT time we aren't doing the marathon sprint around the island. we'll just stay in on or two spots.

Our favorite was the Dingle Peninsula, which incidentally has GREAT fishing

Very nice pictures. Something I always wanted to do someday. Trace the family tree. Beautiful landscape and looks like you had beautiful weather.

Awsome photos...

I remember flying over Ireland some years back just as the sun was rising...it was some of the most beautiful landscape I've ever seen.

I never had much interest in going over there, but my mom just got back from a 10 day trip there and loved it. I haven't seen her photos yet, but the ones you posted are making me reconsider. They are awesome. I'll have to start learning to speak Irish.

Before I went to Ireland in '99....Someone gave me good advice...If you're adventurous (and don't have kids), just get a plane ticket and rent a car. Half the people there have a few rooms in their house they rent as a B&B. We'd drive all day, stop at whatever caught our interest and knock on a door at the end of the day. Very freeing and fun! Hey Mr.Hunters, my grandfater left County Roscommon in 1919 for Amerikay.

the north ain't that bad. and the people i spoke with, they are with you on that. You still have the whole republic you could visit. people up north (way north) believe by the next time we would visit it will be one country

Robert, you are so right about the b and b's we had a package deal with air lingus so our b and b's were somewhat limited but EVERYWHERE You look there is a b and b.. no hotels just houses with rooms for rent. Make sure your plane ticket is round trip or you will get flack at the airport.

here are some from our favorite stop. Dingle peninsula

they call this the three sisters

err. going down?

4 ft wide at the base. and as dry as the day it was constructed in the center

there is bass in them there waters

you guys like white water

these were everywhere
