Crabbing

OK, My youngest wants to go. Bought a book, couple of traps and some extra hand-line. Searched the site. I think I got the process down, but a little lacking in the what the season is. Is it too early? Looking to take a family trip. Is there a good spot that will accommodate an 11 and 12 year old, and the better half? Cryptic locations or PM's would be greatly appreciated. Not looking to make a career out of this or crowd anyone. Thanks in advance.

The last thing I need is my best crabbing spot burned!! JK. Actually, the only guys I know who crab are looking for green bait crabs although back when I lobstered and Gill netted we would bring back a 5 gallon bucket of crab claws for an old lady to pick. It's alot of work but the reward is nice.
I know that if I wanted to catch crabs with a kid I would go to the old sand and gravel pier on the driftway in Scituate. Not a bad place to maybe catch a bass or use the state boat launch. Better be launching a kayak cause there is sure no where to park a trailer.

Attention...Attention...I am about to burn a spot on purpose...

Pemberton Pier in Hull is a good crabbing spot

The best crabbing spots tend to be near where people clean fish, ie piers, boat launches etc. They love eel grass also.
