Canal/CC bay.

Hit the canal this am and the word was out. MOBBED! You could'nt find a spot from the herring run down to the state pier. I was of course one of those who did a lot of casting and caught nothing. I saw 2 fish caught near the herring run and that was about it. Left around 7ish after talking with EB about options for the rest of the drop in the bay. The canal had turned east and was not "ON" like Thurs am. Headed down towards Sandwich area and decided to fish the last hour or so of the drop. GOOD MOVE! I caught 1 fish in an hour and a half but it was 43.5 inches and all of 30lbs. After a mental debate on whether I should keep her or not I decided to let big mama go. A yellow gibbs "It's alive" took the linesider in about 6 ft of water. So glad I made the move from the mob.

Good for you. Finding fish yourself adds to the enjoyment of catching them. Credit to you also for letting it live.

You did well, my friend, releasing your almost 44in.striper. I was up there, also. I took a 45in. 32-9, and had the pleasure of demonstrating to all the assembled peanut gallery how much fun it is to release a big beautiful animal.

Bonds to You and all who love the cows enough to release them.

I am torn between there and canal tomorrow morning. It has been stupid good at the canal the last several days but may not be worth fighting the 3 ring circus tomorrow. Maybe I will just catch up on sleep instead.

7 miles or a tad more on each side. Fish enter and exit and some hang out so even if its crowded someplaces there is always a bunch of a couple hundred feet stretches open. Lots of big fish have been taken on pencils when the fish were not busting on bait though there is a variety of nice bait going through.

Good health and family

couldnt agree more... felt good to release over a dozen 32-42 inch fish over the past 2 days... no need to keep em just for a pic.

May have been a little late. Fished Mashnee on Saturday, one schoolie in and another (probably) striper lost. Tried for tautog, fluke, blues, sea bass: nada. Guys next to me did pretty well with 1.5 - 2lb. scup on sea worms. Talked with a guy at the canal, said he'd been there all week, only caught 3 fish.
