Back From Maine

Ah Maine coast......I love that place. Could be persuaded to move there someday. Wouldn't be hard.

The bargain bin at Kittery yielded four packs of 7inch Ice Shad Sluggos and four Megabait swimmers in olive/silver and a touch of yellow. And new straps for my wrist rockets and some ammo for same.

Lunch at the Clam Shack in Kennebunkport and watched a guy drifting and casting in a 16 foot Lund for school bas uptide of the bridge.

Cabelas in Scarborough was just an awesome experience. Just blows Bass Pro out of the water. Stood looking at the 200 lb mounted Tarpon for a long long time. Got a great Alaskan Guidewear wading jacket on sale.

Pizza in Old Orchard was good not like the Red Barn though and Cape Ned#^&#^&#^&#^& Eldridge Bros bargain bin never fails to please.

Beans had some real deals on flyrods from thier school at 1/4 of the price as new and some were never used but once. flawless but could convince wife needed a fifth 8 wt.

Going back for a fall vacation. Cannot wait.

Why even try.........

The maine coast is one of my favorite places. My wifes aunt has a house on Bidderford Pool. We have been going up there for a long time. I cant wait to go, we will be there last week in July, first week in august. Looks like I need to check out the new cabelas.

Sounds like a great trip. I really like eldridge Bros shop. Always forthcoming with descent advice. I've been fishing Maine stripers for 15 years now. Almost always surf and tidal rivers. I hit the surf with chunk and clams...and plugs when the action is there. I hit the tidal rivers with my fly rod mostly. Little sand eel, crab and shrimp imitations work best. I can fish the same run 3 days without a hit and on the fourth, with some rain, catch 6. Usually just small 20 to 28 inches but have lucked into some 30 plus inchers. I know that's small on this board, but it makes my day. I'm used to cathching 12" trout. Thanks for sharing your trip.
Oh yeah, best fresh fried clams are at this joint right outside of Kittery...used to be called the Line House, same stuff but don't know the new name...main drag 5 mins outside of kittery north next to a tidal river.

Sounds like you did the tourist thing, did you do any fishing? I live 3 miles from Cabelas, it's nice to be able to go get what I need when I want and not have to mail order....

Oh the clam shack, I haven't been there in years, it must be under new ownership by now, that alone is worth the trip.
