My First Respectable Fish of the year
I got a later start than usual this year. I've really only started fishing hard the past month or so. Anyway's after getting skunked more often than not the past 2 weeks, I went out pretty hard last night. I had caught a nice fish last year under a full moon on a rising tide at this spot so I decided to give it a go again.
It was beautiful last night. Huge Moon, No clouds, slight breeze, warm out. What I didn't count on was The GIANT SURF! I def took a few waves on the chin but was rewarded with this fish. She measured just over 41 Inches. I didn't weigh it but when I did fillet it, I was surprised to find 10 crabs in it's stomach.
P.S.As usual I fished alone so the pictures were done with a timer on my digital camera.

Nice job and nice fish. A dangerous night to be out there alone with the swells from Bertha stirring things up. I took a coupla waves from high ground during the daytime. All that surf bashing the rocks must be sending the crabs whirling around for easy pickin's for the bass. Birds were havinga feild day slurping up whatever was being tossed around as well.
I am gonna assume it was an eel that took that fish?

Spin you would be correct. Caught on a live eel. The surf was so big I wore my lifevest while wading. Here's one more pic.

That's a good start, makes up for the late start I bet.
Ya, full moon = bass chow on crabs, easy pickin's for them, soft shell too.
Good idea wearing the vest

NICE FISH SQUIB!!
glad to see some were actually around (I had a good feeling they were with that surf, but my eel was catching more weed than anything) maybe this means some fish are starting to move into the summer patters of rocks and lobsters and crabs instead of chasing the masses of bait further out?
