Watch those carbs
After doing just about everything I could think of and trying a few suggestions to adress why my 25 Nissan 4-stroke would not give me full power I broke down and brought her up to Gander Marine (behind Goose Hummock) which was the dealer that originally sold this motor.
I called a week ago on Saturday and they got me in last Monday. On Wed they called with the news. Lower Carb needed a full rebuild as it was completely blocked and the upper two needed serious cleaning. Add in a throttle adjustment and she was good to go for a bit over $300. Diagnosis was that even though I have a Racor filter the new gas had the damn carbs gunked up real bad.
I got the boat back on Thursday and took her out to Sandy Neck for this past weekend. I can now agree with Little Round that when the damn engine is running that 4-stroke makes my 14ft Carolina Skiff fly. The new GPS clocked me at 24-26 mph and that was loaded with gear and my fat arse. I can't give enough praise to the guys at Gander as they did me fair and fast. My little mosquito is flying once again.
IF you got one of these little motors, keep an eye out on those carbs, they definately need to be watched.
