For the Promos they will show a slow motion scene of an athlete with a bent rod and the striper falling off the hook at the last moment. Like the agony of defeat scene.

Next time you get out of the shower take a look in the mirror and ask yourself this question....
Is this the image that the ancient Greeks were looking for when they selected their Olympians....I'm gonna guess the answer is no.

Hi Don,
no jigging yet
it hurt a bit last week just casting light plugs as it was my casting finger.
it is better but still sore and not strong yet, can't grip stuff well but won't stop me from trying to fish.
The olympics I have been watching have been very entertaining, that swimming last night beating the French was awesome.

We were talking about having racing in the olympics in at work today. Doing an IROC type of event to see who the best road, track, drag, rally, etc driver in the world was. Have like 2 or 3 events for each.
Back to the fishing, think of how much of an advantage the home team would have.
Also there would have to be a format to it because I honestly can't see team iraq on a boat pullin up fish...
|
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

And you'd be hard pressed to find a single person who can drive tacks like some of those little girls do with those air rifles.
There's a bit more to it than a left hand turn.

Fishing will never be an Olympic event because their is to much of an element of chance to it.
NASCAR will never be an Olympic event because to much emphasis is put on the Equipment.....not the people.....
Besides....do you know how much it would cost to get your RV to China.....
But then again the Athletes Jackets could all be made out of Sleeveless Flannel

What about sailing and the equestrian events? Emphasis is definetly on the the equipment. Just food for fodder. I'd personally like watching the fishing event. So why is softball and baseball being cancelled in the next olympics?

Sailing is done in identical boats.
So you're wrong.

I've been a marksmanship instructor and competative shooter in the USAF.A NASCAR fan since 1979 who has met and spoken at length with several drivers both from the top series to locals. My next statement does come with some knowledge and authority on both subjects to say the least.
Comparing shooting to driving a race car by implying that the only skill you need to race is the ability to turn left is foolish.Shooting and driving are two different thing altogether, each is difficult in its own way.
Lets put in a way that's familiar to you, sailing and shooting."There's more to shooting than putting a boat in the water and letting the wind push it around."Having worked for Jerry Kirby for 15yrs I know better than that but you get the idea. The two just can't be compared.

Knowing 2 riders and the time, money, and energy they spend on their horses? They're definitely a factor.

To get back on subject fishing would be cool to see but I don't think it'll happen.
As far any type of motorsports involving cars just isn't going to happen. The logistics and expense of trying put that type of event together are mind blowing.

i dont know if you guys have seen any of the british carp fishing tournaments on tv but they are really boring compared to the BASS tournaments that they air. the carp guys sit on a platform at the waters edge and catch carp after carp, net them, and put them into their bag. they dont show you the fish they catch and keep everything very secret till then end.
