totaug

does anyone know why some totaug turn blue? i have seen pictures of what looks like a blue totaug but ive never caught one. wanted to know if it really was one or if it were something else. thanks

Sure it wasn't a Sea Bass? The big males will get very blue.

Several thousand blackfish, and I've never seen one blue.
they can get a shiny grey brown, which underwater might look blue.
my guess is Brian is right.
Big black sea bass.
I guess he got all the brains in the family

Same here, Bryan. Caught piles of them, often the bigger ones get that grayish/greeny tint but I've never seen a blue one.

you are probably right. i have seen pictures of blue, like bright blue, fish that look like they could be totaug but also could be a sea bass. good example is on the front of the cover of dave marschs cookbook they always show the comercial for durning "on the water tv".
