hunting for large
were heading out to montauk for a full week, next friday to the monday after (so 10 days)
This is really the only shot i think at some big fish, because were gonna be fishing a lot. We will be going out there other weekends, but this is going to be the longest for the rest of the season.
What would you throw(plugs in a heav eof 2-4 feet of water, white waves and a sw wind, large spearing & bunker are present in the water)
I'm not talking abou the situation above now but i may throw eels. I've never threw eels but I want to so can somebody give me some advice on how the rig a live one, what I'm going to need? I might rig dead because I learned how to, even though I've never fished them. How should the retreive be? Slow, quick, variable speed? and is there any tricks to throwing snakes? Should you jerk, stop ect.
If I dont throw snakes, I would probably throw ss needles, gibbs darters and needles, bucktails and all sorts of poppers(if it hits morning).
now for the scenario above, I'd probably put on something heavy with a sw wind to imitate a bunker, like the large hahn swimmer or a gibbs 3 oz bottle plug.
My biggest fish was 19.5#'s on montauks north side last year. I want something 27#'s plus.
Any help would be appreciated, this trip counts alot!
Thanks & good plugging,
Nick
