Prizes and Donations for The Habs Fall Classic

I just wanted to let you guys know about some of the items that are coming in for the Charity Raffle that will be held on Sunday October 4th at the Coddington Brewing Co. after the Awards Ceremony.

We've gotten a lot of very generous donations and the proceeds are going to a great cause, The Tomorrrow Fund at Hasbro Children's Hospital to help critically ill children and their familes.

Stuff is still coming in, so this is just a partial listing - if I've forgotten to mention something feel free to chime in - cut me some slack, though - I'm old and I suffer from occasional bouts of CRS

- BigFish Bait Co. - Larry has donated some outstanding pluggage, hats and stocking caps

- Quaker Lane has donated a bunch of rigged Sluggos, rigged by da man himself, Stevie Van Staal

- Iron Mike has donated a bunch of NIP Alou Bait Tails in assorted colors made when the legendary Al Rheinfelder was alive and was producing them, along with a few other...uh, "items"

- A charter with the one and only Clammer (not for the faint of heart )

- A charter with Piemma, whom you all know well

- A charter with BJ Silvia, who was one of the originators of The SSGT Potts Tournament that was just held

- Kadir of Aquaskinz has made a generous donation which will be arriving shortly

- Craig Cantelmo of VS is sending some "items" in via Iron Mike from Montauk

- Beautifully framed antique striped-bass fishing prints from The Angler's Art

- A nice selection of tins from The Point Jude Lure Co.

- Other items that have been donated include NIP Habs needles, pluggage from a lot of the builders here at S-B.com and other bass fishing stuff of interest to the surfcaster in the know (God, we really did call them sharpies years ago with no hint of irony)

Anyway, that's a partial list - an enormous thanks from Jess and John Jr and me and Joe to you guys - we've got a great community here at S-B.

You guys really are the best

See you all Sunday

Oh yeah, also wanted to add again that I hope people realize that this is a family friendly event Sunday at the Awards Ceremony - it sure would've pleased Senor Habs to know that. Anybody who has kids - boys or girls - who like to fish are encouraged to bring 'em along with ya. That also goes for your wives (or husbands, for you ladies in the tournament) and significant others, too

See ya Sunday

I just received this in an email a short while ago from fish4stripers:

Would like to donate a 4hr boatride/fishing trip in Narragansett Bay for 2 anglers. The winner can pick time of year and method and target of fish, stripers, blues, or tautog. No cost to the winner.

My boat is a 2006 20.5 ft Key Largo with T-top with 150 HP outboard. Has full electronics, radar, fishfinder, gps, vhf radio, full safety equipment.

Thanks again!
