that was scary... waiting for that freight train sound....

after seeing oak trees the width (circumference) of a trash can
twisted out of the ground like a weed earlier this year
i wasn't taking any chances...

just be glad we're not California right now. Eesh. Poor people got the Santa Ana's whipping this fire up to incredible proportions.

unless you've been there and experienced it first hand...

you'd never know about this.... the first time it happened to me i thought i'd suddenly become very ill with the flu.... (during a Santa ANA wind storm)

Santa Ana winds are also said to be positive ion storms

the effects of positive ions make you feel very lethargic... weak in the knees as if you were wearing gravity boots....every step forward takes twice the effort as normal and you feel tired just from walking.

So fighting fires under those conditions must be terrible... the only future for California IMHO is a string of desalinization plants all the way up the coastline
to make more fresh water....

i have relatives there....and when you visit them and step into the backyard... it's like walking into an oven. people on the East coast generally have no concept of how wet it is here or how dry it is there.
