Happy Valentines Day Numby
I know,, day early ... I made this for you bud , when your fishing the canal at slack this year .. This plug is no joke .. underground has been messing with this for years , I added Flaptail feature .. or remove and add hook or simple feather.. Plug is 6" and weighs 3.8 ounces.. should fly .. Its not a pencil popper ,, i added that bottom too .. Plug should be simply dragged straight in .. lift rod,, reel down ,,repeat.. nothing fancy .. should mound up water .. Untested .. If it doesn't fish well use it for something eles .. alot of lead in this plug ,,from arse end into belly hole ,, can be seen in belly hole .. Lead under eye .. 1 00 shot in front of belly hook also .. enjoy ....

I've seen 2 variations of this plug , built by a well known local canal fisher . Not of internet fame but quietly fashioned jiggs , wood and rubber to catch fish in the ditch . The inspiration for building this plug was Big Daves fishing partner and friend, the late Paul Karnicki . Paul laughfingly called this a pecker plug . You can't see it but the head is back beveled to pull water . I've also seen real old freshy versions of a pecker plug .. Do you know who made it orig .

Numbskull
For whatever reason, I guess today was your lucky day,

I willl try and post a couple pics of the original as well as the version John Gibbs made back in the mid 80ties. They sure did fly and the bluefish loved them. After John Gibbs saw Pauls plug fly it lead him to make some for a few of us. These plugs were made with pendulum casting from the beach. Eventually It was these plugs that lead Paul and I to mold hooks into the pointed tail leads that came out of the mold I showed you.
