It could have turned out very badly.
Thank God he didn't stab the guy.
I think there are a ton of people just about at their breaking point right now. Not a good time to piss people off.
I hope the guy gets new tires out of it

I'm sure there's a good reason he's 39 and working at Dunkin Donuts. And I'm willing to bet he was there before the economy hit the toilet.

Excellent point, Johnny. 39 y.o. males aren't the typical DD employee. I bet if you ran a background check on the guy, he'd have a history of either criminal activity or being fired from other jobs.

I am not so sure about that.
I know allot of very hard working people who have worked the same job for 30 years or more that are laid off right now.
Including my husband. Things are bad for us but we don't have a house or children. Imagine the guy that does and he has to take a crappy job at someplace like DD just to pay the light bill.
In comes some jerk and gives him crap. Just what he needed to tip the scale.
Besides it's Natick Lots of rich people.
I always root for the underdog.
If it was a 19 year old kid it would be a different story.

With all sincerely due respect, have you ever been to a DD? I've been there with 3 people behind the counter, 2 people in line in front of me, and it taken 15 minutes for me to get my burnt coffee and stale bagel.

How about walking into a DD in the middle of afternoon, store is empty and waiting 5 minutes just for someone to say "Yes?" as opposed to "Hi, how can I help you?"

My experience is that the younger employees are actually the better, more reliable ones - not to mention generally more courteous. I attribute this to younger folks not needing to hate their lives and the fact that they have no education or skills.

These comments can be carried back to before unemployment went through the roof.

I'm not saying the customer didn't do anything to provoke the guy. He was probably being a jackass, but that doesn't mean he should have his tires slashed.

Keep in mind that carrying a weapon on you while at work is a vilolation of company policy at many businesses. I'm pretty sure that the franchisee who owns that store doesn't allow it.

Yes, I agree. I just think it is something to think about before you freak out on someone. It seems that there are many people on edge thse days.
I hate DD. Things are just about the same in every store.
There is no such thing as good service anymore.
No pride in work either. It has been that way for along time.

Nobody should have their property damaged or get hurt over a cup of coffee.

YUP ! a guy at my wife's place got warned about carrying a small knife
even though they all use utility knives everyday he stupidly got caught
carrying it again and just got fired from probably the best job
he could have ever got....... during these troubled times.

So now a pocket knife is a weapon?
Geez I don't think I know any men who don't carry a pocket knife.
My father always had one. My husband carries one everyday.
What's next nail clippers?

To me, DD's are all different. Some are staffed sufficiently with competent even sometimes cute little employees who dump out the coffee left on the heater after 16 minutes (or whatever the official company policy is) and they don't roll their eyes when you order a breakfast sangy, and some others..... well they're the ones that lead to threads like these.

I've since stopped drinking coffee... but when I was a 2 cup/day guy, I eventually gave up DD because it is impossible to get two cups of coffee that taste the same. Maybe out of different trips, 2 would taste similar.

Starbucks on the other hand. Everyone complains that it's soooo much more expensive, but it's just a stigma. The coffee is maybe .10-.15 more, but every cup will taste exactly the same regardless of when or where you go.

I've never had a bad experience at Dunk's....

There are jerks on both sides of the counter.

And, against Popular belief, the Customer is NOT always right. The Customer should always be treated as IF they are.......but they aren't always

Guy shouldn't have done what he did to the dude's tires......But there is also no need to treat the guy that is serving you like an a-hole......report even said he was the only guy working there and there was a line.

Dunk's guy got fired....which he deserved....and he'll probably be paying for 4 new tires.....which he should.

I hit Starbucks every morning and the large Coffee is actually 10 cents cheaper than a large at Dunks....$2.05 vs $2.15

They give it to me black and I get to fix it just the way I want it...

I know allot of very hard working people who have worked the same job for 30 years or more that are laid off right now.
Including my husband. Things are bad for us but we don't have a house or children. Imagine the guy that does and he has to take a crappy job at someplace like DD just to pay the light bill.

 Thank You....a Voice of reason.

when I was in the Navy there was an E-6 there that had 4 kids......worked nights at McDonalds to make ends meet....

The fact that the guy was working should be enough......

The GUY working at Dunkin Doughnuts i mean...

but it was a swimming pool supply store...(out west)

and what happens is .... the first guy

in LINE ...who's Impatient as hell

has a beef... and decides to Grandstand

or filibuster and use the moment to badmouth

the establishment in front of the rest of the customers

this really tweaks you right off real QUICK
...and i had all i could do
to keep myself from jumping over the counter
 and beating him
senseless .... so i can identify
