Cuttyhunk Trip June 12-14 2009
There are a couple of openings available for this trip, one I have run for a number of years. Life, family, jobs, or the lack of one, has gotten in the way of a few who were planning on going.
So...some details;
Ferry over from New Bedford Friday morning, return midday Sunday, parking at ferry lot, runs about 80 bucks round trip.
Two nights at the Cuttyhunk Fishing Club. $100 per man per night, or $216.00 with tax.
Everyone buys and brings a food/drink share that we figure out. About $40.00 (That's one of the main reasons for the Cuttyhunk forum, getting the logistics/food organized) We cook for ourselves and grill, with full kitchen access.
So before you figure new gear, or eels, it's about $340.00 for the weekend.
Everyone gets a bed, most are double rooms, and there's the apartment. But I have the whole Club reserved, so no one there but us. No slackers, everyone chips in. We clean up as we go, not at the end. Period.
There are no vehicles there. If walking is an issue, you are out. That said, while there are a couple fine places to fish within fairly easy walking, the best jewels of the island require a hike, and then navigating some always moving bowlingball sized rocks underfoot. We have all taken tumbles there, especially at night when you are tired. Just want that said before anyone considers this trip. We all rely on each other, and fortunately we have not had a medical situation to deal with there, because we would be all you got.
There isn't anything to speak of on the island except a T shirt shop and a small thinly stocked grocery. No restaurants, nothing.
The best part is stepping back in time, with a bunch of guys who are there to fish, period. This is not a drinking trip. We are there to fish. Drink when you get back (see above) I will let other veterans of these trips chime in, but for me, it's like being back in a fraternity. Awesome times with awesome people in a place where you always have a chance of getting a trophy from the surf. And it's always cool to see the reaction of firstimers!
Please post an "I'm interested" below and I will bet back to folks via pm as I know what slots are definitely available. Also PM me with questions you have to have answered before showing interest.
Please, don't turn this into a free for all.....
Ross

This is a great fishing trip. Not a party / ruckus. We have a blast. The camaraderie is tops.
We rent the club, everyone pitches in with cleaning & cooking and bringing food.
Fishing can be slow to phenomenal, the chance for a biggun is good - its certainly the right place . We're out there at a good time, high tides late in the night.
This is a rare opportunity to get onto a great trip as well as chances at future trips (trip rights go to people that have been on trip in the past).

It is truly a great trip worth every penny. Unfortunately, myself and my brother have not been able to make it the past two years. If you can get the time off, I suggest most whole-heartedly you try to attend.
And what Ross said is true:
1. If you don't pack it in, you can't get it (hooks, eels, food, etc).
2. It's definately not a place to be wandering around if you've been drinking...heck I almost got run over by a drunk kid in a golf cart one night (not from our group).
3. Start walking now...you'll need to be in shape.
Have fun everybody,
Rick

Im still interested. I talked to John about me and my friend going but if that isnt ok. Im sure my dad wouldnt mind getting in on some of the action. Then we wouldnt have to deal with the insurance issues.

Rocco, I sent you a PM.
Just to clarify things; This is a getaway weekend for fishing. While we have had a minor (I believe) before, he was accompanied by a parent. While we do not want to discriminate against our younger members, if you are under 18, you need to have a parent on the trip. I just can't ask guys to be responsible for minors when they are taking time off from work and family. I hope you understand.
I am waiting to here back from 2 maybes, which will just about fill it.

What he said. I'm all for having a responsible teen come along PROVIDED said teen has a parent or guardian on the trip (that will enjhoy having some fun & fishing too). Kudos to you young lads fishing hard as the next generation
BUT, this is an adult trip and if a teen wants to go WITH their parent, that is OK (also provided they understand it could be humorous & rude at the same time )

Is Mikey going to reenact his death spiral from the cliff this trip?

Mikey's not going this time around....besides.....I'd rather he re-enacts the death spiral from the cliff than the Boat Ride over

Great trip with a great bunch of guys. Thank you again Ross for the opportunity to go a few years back. Fishing with the likes of You, Tagger, Zeno, the Bombas, Ben, and the Dad fisherman. Doesn't get much better than that.
I really wish i could go.
