Canal on July 3rd/4th

Just a quick report on fishing the other night. My brother, his buddy and I fished mid canal 10:30-2:30. Nothing but some lost jigs for me, my brother scored 2 on eels right before slack, both bass, 34 and 36 inch fish. This was my fist time fishing there since early June.

Anyways, we were surprised that these fish were big, for their size. same as late May, early June fish we got into. Anyone else think the bass are heavy for their size this year? The past few years I seem to get a lot of big heads with not as much girth...
