South Eastern Mass and into RI

This is my 3rd night out in the past week looking for fish. Also the 3rd night I have come home with no fish and most of my bait.

Is anyone catching anything along the lower Taunton River, Mt. Hope Bay or Sakonnet River?

Heck, is anyone even having their bate harassed?

I'm kind of new to the Striper game, but I just cant seem to find life. Tonight was a good night, albeit low tide for most of it, water was like glass and I couldn’t hear anything moving for a good mile off of a long stretch of beach. We finally ended up moving location (I hate packing up and moving on to proposed "greener pastures". We ended up @ "fishing spot x" by the "fishing spot Y" in Tiverton. There were about 10 folk with rods in the water and eventually they all left. My fishing buddy and myself stuck around for another hour, but finally gave up as nothing was touching our fresh clams.

Anyone got any bright ideas or is it true that the river/bay/river are barren?

ps. by the way, great site here, and great community. Ive been lurking on the forums for the better part of a month now.
Cheers.

good spot but it's tricky... the water moves fast there... sometimes the fish don't have time to "hit the beach"

try dead low and 2hr's before high to 2hr's after high... but get there earlier or you will be chit out of luck for a spot... dont' go to far near the point of rocks unless the tide is dumping or game over..

Ohhh ditch the clams and fish squid, pogie, or fresh chunked mackerel... Your clams will get wiped out by the choggies and other micro fish that inhabit the area..

But ya try not to mention direct area because you might just mention "someone's secret spot"... and cause a spot war..

Mr. Sores burns that spot every year in the sterile herald and other publications he writes for, just an FYI....

good luck...

Umm, what he said. Spot specific talk is generally frowned upon in reports and such. It has been debated ad nauseam do need to further .

That said, some call this the slow time, the doldrums, yada yada. My advice to you is to choose a locale that if you need to move around to different spots is that your spots are close and don't require 20 miles between spots. So if you are at spot A, don't spend excessive time going to B & C because I can almost guarantee with certanty that you won't catch anything with fins when your line is in your trunk. Keep your line in the water and if no bite, quickly move to another nearby spot that may produce.

Plan your night in advance so if you do need to move you can do so quickly.

So beyond that - just go fish. There will be fish around, just not necessarily as steady or concentrated as they may have been earlier in the year.

Thanks for some of the insight. Sorry about the possible burn there, I didn't really consider it to be "secret spot" due to it location.
But I agree with JohnR, I personally hate changing locations. It is rather difficult casting while driving (but I hear its a great way to get some extra yardage). I'd personally rather work an area until it, well, works.

I was more interested if anyone was seeing any action AT ALL in the rivers/bays.

Disclaimer, Fisherman Brian does not encourage the act of fishing/casting while driving.

The bay is void of life. The water temps and rain has put a hurtin on the health of the estuaries. There's no fish in RI on the mainland.Take a ride on the .........ferry !
